Day 1, 2, 3. Arrival in San Jose. Visit the famously mysterious Winchester House, hike on easy to moderate trails along the San Andreas Fault, through Redwoods, and explore other scenic areas in the San Jose / Los Gatos area.
Days 4, 5, 6. Today, over the coastal mountains to Monterey Bay. See the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Gray Whale Migration (half day whale watch), and enjoy the many facets of this magnificent coastal location.
Days 7, 8, 9. Explore the Big Sur Coast, a 75 mi. drive along magnificent cliffs, canyons, and isolated beaches with waterfalls! Redwoods! Hearst Castle, too.
Days 10, 11. Morro Bay. Another scenic coastal village, this one with an impressive 600-foot high volcanic plug intrusion that anchors the beach. Visit the historic San Luis Obispo mission is an option.
Days 12, 13. Return northward. Overnight in Soledad. Visit Pinnacles National Park featuring thousand-foot high volcanic outcrops split along the San Andreas and related Faults, scenic and geologically significant, plus loved by Condors and rock climbers.
Day. 14. It’s a 90 minute drive to San Jose for your return flight in the afternoon or continue your California travels on your own.
